DIRTY SECRET
In our December 15 poll question,
we asked, "With our hospitals overrun with superbugs,
do you think your fellow physicians are washing their
hands often enough to help prevent the spread of disease?"
Here's what some of you had to say. (For full poll results
- No. I've often seen physicians
move from patient to patient without washing their
hands
- It's improving, but much more
needs to be done
- Not even close. Look closely
at any ED! It's hard to take the time when there's
a 12 hour wait for patients and the skin is already
coming off your hands anyway.
- Handwashing is imperative, but
while we're at it, how about cleaning our stethoscopes
more often? Keyboards, both in the office and the
hospital, are also a problem
- No, but we're a lot better than
the nurses, assistants, etc
