WEIGHS IN
I read the story "Weight extremes breed infertility"
in the National Review of Medicine (Vol 3, No 18, p
5) and wanted to congratulate you on a well-written
piece. We can hope that practitioners will become more
attuned to the issue of obesity and fertility as a result.

GOT
IT COVERED
I enjoyed reading the Q&A with Dr Jacques Chaoulli
on the cover of NRM (Dr Jacques Chaoulli stands defiant,
Vol 3, No 18). Also, the front page of the newspaper
looks better.

Another great issue. I like the
new look of the front page. Very clean and striking,
interesting articles as always. Keep up the great work!

Quebec
COMRADE SOLIDARITY
Here's what some of your colleagues had to say about
our November poll question, "Do you think that Quebec's
specialists are right to refuse to perform unpaid duties
like teaching while they're in a pay dispute with the
government?" (click here for full
poll results and this issue's
question):
At some point, doctors must
show they're serious about their demands and if that
includes not participating in non-lifesaving activities,
then so be it!
It's called "work to rule" and
our comrades all over the earth use that tactic. Your
next question should be: why don't they get paid to
do such an important job as educating the next generation
of MDs?
- Teachers do it. Why not docs?
- I wish GPs would do the same
- They owe it to continue to
teach. Their argument is not with their students and
patients.
- Enough is enough!
- The new law is dictatorial
- They should be paid for teaching.
I'm sure the administrators of the hospital get paid!
