HAPPY TO HELP
A brief letter and Victorinox 'Swiss Army Knife' arrived by special delivery on December 30, 2004. This was in response to my participation in your NRM Annual Checkup Survey Contest. I hope that my comments and feedback were helpful. I was glad to participate. Thank you again for the practical prize and for the privilege of participating.

Your comments have helped us immensely. Thank you for participating. To help us tailor our focuses on non-clinical content, you may be interested in filling in our survey on Practice Management and Personal Finance. — Ed

TO PASS AN EXAM
I have just read your article "Trying... and trying... to get my CCFP" (Vol 2, No 1) in your January 15 issue. Are there any courses to help me prepare for the above examination? I have been practising family medicine in the northeast corner of BC for the last 13 years. Is it true that the only place where one can access this course is at University of Toronto?

Indeed, the only place that offers this kind of workshop is the University of Toronto. You can also contact your provincial chapter of the College of Family Physicians to see if any seminars are available in your area. — Ed

IDEAS VS IDEALS
In reference to your article, "Trying... and trying... to get my CCFP" (Vol 2, No 1) in your January 15 issue, the College of Family Physicians of Canada's 'new' approach to patients is a wonderfully attractive idea — as an ideal that is. I would be interested in hearing the data that shows a widespread use in actual clinical practice. Anecdotal evidence from patients in non-university clinic settings doesn't seem to indicate application in general. How do we know that doctors actually take the time in real life? Given the pressure and volume that most practitioners operate at, there seems to be an immediate jettisoning of those wonderful ideas when reality strikes. I would be delighted to be Dr Watts' patient any time, as she seems to know her stuff. A CCFP wouldn't be of any advantage.
