DOCS NEED A VOICE
In the last issue, the article "Should you be forced to keep up to date" (page 1, Vol 1 No 16) addressed the issue of physician recertification. I believe that if recertification is to be considered, one should also re-evaluate the need for the mandatory CME, which was intended to ensure that doctors keep up to date with current knowledge in their field. It's unclear what sort of reliable and valid tests would be eventually created to determine competencies in various specialties. Hopefully doctors will have a voice in the matter and be able to help determine the process of this proposal and its possible implementation.

THE SHOE FITS BUT WHERE IS IT?
After reading the article "Move over Manolo and make room for Masai Barefoot Technology" (page 14, Vol 1 No 15) by Anna Byk, I am became very interested in the shoes. You mention that they are only available in three stores in Ontario. Where are these outlets? I can't find any Canadian retailers on the net.

WITTY WRITING
I very much enjoy your journal. It is attractive to the eye, the headlines are witty and the writing style is easy to read. I like "Practice Management" and the new column "Personal Finance." I've read every issue so far.

RAW DEAL
In the article "Birthing in Canada: why FPs don't deliver" (page 1, Vol 1 No 15) you state that family physicians largely don't deliver infants because of time and skill. My case is quite different. I took a course, worked once a year to keep up my skills and the board here (in Saskatchewan) terminated deliveries without even giving me 24 hours notice. They wanted the room for longterm care. Even the new board in Moose Jaw will not allow obstetrics to be done despite my skill and desire to deliver.

GROWING ON ME
The paper is starting to grow on me. I particularly like the brief summaries as they match my attention span.
